Moving Monkeys ≡

About Us / History

Moving Monkeys began in 2014 running Gymnastics Programs in Primary Schools across Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria. Quickly growing to service over 250 schools under the company name Gymnastics 4 Hire, we built a strong reputation of professionalism, knowledge, value, and trust. Kids all over Victoria are actively engaged in our lessons based on the Victorian Curriculum. From equipment hire and online lesson plans, incursions with experienced coaches, professional development workshops, and presentations at the annual ACHPER conference, we are about enabling schools to run gymnastics as part of their PE curriculum.

In 2018 we identified a growing need for a permanent gymnastics facility tailor made for beginner and recreational gymnastics. Our centre in Ferntree Gully was carefully chosen to create a fun environment to learn and develop the fundamentals of human movement. A maximum of 12 in a KinderGym class, and a ratio of 1:6 in our school age classes (maximum of 20 students at any time), our facility and coaches are carefully chosen to make students feel welcome and comfortable, significantly reducing the anxiety that can be felt at a larger centre.

Staff at Moving Monkeys are passionate and have extensive experience working with children of all abilities. Our KinderGym co-ordinator, Sue Westaway, has been coaching for over 30 years and is also a course presenter for Gymnastics Victoria. The school-age program co-ordinator, Gary Black, has been coaching for over 20 years and is also a course presenter.

Our facility is heated and air-conditioned to be comfortable all year round. All classes are co-ed, and we utilize a mixture of both traditional and non-traditional gymnastics equipment.

Our viewing area for parents of older children is a café style, with tables, chairs and free Wi-Fi. Coffee, baby-chinos, and hot chocolate is available (even icy-poles)!
